Do Not Buy Gc Fit 360 Garcinia Cambogia Until Read

Gc Fit 360 garcinia cambogia is hot. Nearly a million Americans each month Google this supposed weight-loss supplement. They’re looking for reviews on Gc Fit 360 garcinia cambogia’s effectiveness, what kind of side effects it causes, and where they can buy it. My mom recently bought a bottle of the pills at Costco because she saw a segment about Gc Fit 360 garcinia cambogia on a TV show.

Gc Fit 360 garcinia cambogia, also known as tamarind, is a fruit that grows in Southeast Asia. Manufacturers claim that it boosts weight loss by, among other things, “slowing the body’s ability to absorb fat,” “replacing fat with toned muscles,” and even improving your mood and suppressing “the drive to react to stressful situations with food.” How, you may ask? It’s mostly pinned on hydroxycitric acid (HCA), a substance found in Gc Fit 360 garcinia cambogia that appears to inhibit an enzyme called citrate lyase and interferes with fatty acid metabolism.

“HCA does do that—but in a petri dish,” says Steven Heymsfield, M.D., the former head of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, La. “Converting that to actual weight loss in humans would take 1,000 steps beyond that,” he says.

Back in 1998, Heymsfield published the first randomized controlled trial on the effectiveness of Gc Fit 360 garcinia cambogia, in the Journal of the American Medical Association. He found no weight-loss benefits. Heymsfield, who continues to study the topic of weight-loss supplements at Pennington, says that about a dozen negative studies have since been published about Gc Fit 360 garcinia cambogia. But that has not stopped marketers of the supplement, he says, from “weaving a story with obscure facts. Maybe each fragment has some validity, but if you wind it together it makes no sense at all.”

Does Gc Fit 360 garcinia cambogia work?

Some studies say HCA works, and some say it doesn’t. Animal studies of HCA showed that mice taking the substance ate less, lost weight and produced less fat from sugar.

Human studies had more conflicting results. One weight loss trial showed no difference between people who took Gc Fit 360 garcinia cambogia and those who took a placebo pill. Other trials linked HCA to weight loss and healthy blood lipid levels (lipids are fats).

“Further, well-designed clinical trials are needed before any firm conclusions can be made,” Ulbricht said.

If a pharmaceutical company wanted to sell HCA as a drug, the company would have to find stronger evidence that the substance worked, coming from better-designed clinical trials. Without that data, HCA wouldn’t pass U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval, Ulbricht said. But the FDA doesn’t put chemicals sold as nutritional supplements under the same burden of proof as pharmaceuticals. In fact, supplement makers only have to make their products safe to eat and responsibly label them.

Despite the popularity of Gc Fit 360 garcinia cambogia, it is difficult to track how effective supplements containing it are.

“Preparation of products may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, and from batch to batch within one manufacturer,” Ulbricht said. That makes it difficult to compare one brand to another or even to measure the effects of a single brand.

Dried fruit rinds have been used extensively for centuries throughout Southeast Asia for culinary purposes as a condiment and flavoring agent in place of tamarind or lemon. Additional culinary uses include the flavoring of curries, meat, and seafood. The fruit extract has been used as a flavoring agent for beverages and gourmet spices, as well as a carminative, thereby helping to prevent the formation of gas in the GI tract after a meal. HCA and other organic acids from the dried rind combined with salt help lower pH and provide a bacteriostatic effect used in curing fish. The herb is considered beneficial for overall health in the traditional Ayurvedic medical system. Rheumatism and bowel complaints are treated with a decoction of the fruit rind. A rinse is used from the herbal extract in veterinary medicine for some diseases of the mouth in cattle. HCA has also become popular as an ingredient for weight loss.

Oz’s advice

Dr. Oz recommends a dose of 500-1000 mg of Gc Fit 360 garcinia cambogia potassium before each meal. (Some experts believe the potassium salt is more effective than other formulations.) He says not to take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, because it can worsen dementia. If you have diabetes, it can cause hypoglycemia, and if you are on a statin, it can increase the risk of harmful side effects like rhabdomyolysis or muscle degradation.

Oz contradicts himself: he suggests that it can produce weight loss without diet or exercise, yet he clearly recommends it be used along with exercise and properly portioned meals.
